Happy July 4th! CELEBRATE AMERICA AND VOTE!
Yesterday, we celebrated the 242nd anniversary of the first Independence Day. American colonists were rebels. We wanted independence and we fought and died for it. It is important to remember that the Revolutionary war lead to the forming of a new nation...a new time of change.
George Washington represented the rebellious, American spirit and led the charge to break away from the restrictions and regulations of the British. He took command of a motley crew of an army, which consisted of the local militias, the poor, and the criminals and with great strategy and determination, created an army that would "look the elite British military in the eye". Nothing magically happens; the American Revolutionary War lasted 8 years under Washington's leadership. There were successes and there were failures, but when it finally ended in 1783, the thirteen American colonies won their independence from the greatest military force of its time and became the United States of America. Nothing is impossible!
We made a choice and continue to fight back, as we always have, to the challenges that arise around us and within our institutions.
Happy July 4th. CELEBRATE AMERICA AND VOTE!
