I love the holiday season.  I start listening to Christmas music December 1st, the decorations come out of storage and the tree gets dressed.  For me, there's a magical feeling in the air; I feel a little more alive. The Holiday season means we're rushing around more than we usually do.  I live in New York City and trust me, we're all moving at a high speed every day of the year.  Come the holidays, we're all on overdrive regardless of our address.

The one word that keeps playing in my head is patience. Patience is hard especially around the holidays when we're trying to get so much done in a short amount of time.  We're waiting in long lines at the store thinking people are moving slower than they could be. I've learned to stop my thoughts in their track and turn them around quickly before they get carried away. These people aren't moving slow on purpose, maybe they're tired, dealing with people yelling at them or standing on their feel for 10 hours a day for a paycheck.  A friend will say something annoying. Before I open my mouth to respond, I stop to remember why she's my friend and recall I've said some pretty dumb things too. I have a great love for people and don't like being impatient. Whatever the circumstances, put yourself in someone's place, smile and say something nice. The reward is so well worth it for everyone. You have the power to make a difference in someone's life. That, my friend, is pretty cool!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you.
